Singapore A WORLD APART

The Sentosa Resort & Spa allows you to connect with nature in downtown Singapore

THE SCENE
An indulgent cliff top escape on Singapore’s Sentosa Island, The Sentosa Resort & Spa is a short drive from Singapore’s CBD, away from the hustle and bustle. The low-rise buildings linked by open walkways lined with frangipani and palm trees are spread over 27 acres of lush tropical greenery and stunning landscaped tropical gardens and koi-filled lily ponds. Adjacent to hotel are two 18-hole championship golf courses.
THE ROOMS
Guests can choose from 174 deluxe rooms, 37 suites and four exclusive two-bedroom villas (the only resort in Lion City to offer villas). The rooms exude a luxurious and warm welcoming feel with plush interiors and contemporary comfort. Modish furniture and elegant amenities blend with the interior’s refreshing hues and sleek clean lines. All rooms and suites feature high-speed Internet access and state-of-the-art entertainment systems that include a 42-inch plasma TV.
DRINK & DINE
The Garden, an all-new restaurant with emphasis on the Conscious Dining concept, in which all ingredients are specially sourced from organic or bio-dynamic farms where possible and when available, and prepared to retain its natural goodness and flavours. This concept carries through with vegetarian choices and a nutritional guide, which promotes a more ‘conscious’ dining approach as well. The resort’s signature restaurant, The Cliff, offers contemporary cuisine with commanding views of the South China Sea. All-day dining is at The Terrace, while The Pavilion is the perfect place to end day sipping a drink or two.
OTHER FEATURES
In addition to usual spaces for banquets, weddings and conferences, The Sentosa offers two temples to well-being: The Seven Eden Wellness Centre, that encompasses a well-equipped lifestyle gymnasium, Zest Cafe, Zest Studio for healthy lifestyle programmes and Traditional Chinese Medicine consultation, acupuncture for weight management and wellbeing and anti-ageing consultations for renewed vitality. Spa Botanica on the other hand is country’s first tropical garden destination spa with state-of-the-art facilities, mud pools, float pools, Galaxy steam baths, and traditional beauty and health practices.
SOMETHING SPECIAL
The Aveda toiletries in the room, and the mud pool, meditative labyrinth, and the decadent King’s Bath at Spa Botanica.

Samui Villa Lawana

The first thing you see when you walk into Villa Lawana is the charming lobby (arranged like an outdoor living room) with a giant overhanging carved with Chinese characters, welcoming you into the Fu family home.
The intention of this BeGray-designed resort is to hearken to the nascent days of Koh Samui, back when about 90% of the island’s residents emigrated from Hainan province of China. Walking through Villa Lawana, one feels the impression of a village rather than your average resort. The rooms of the upstairs Mui and downstairs Sayam suites are reminiscent of shop-houses that used to be found everywhere on Samui, with home-style touches providing adornment throughout.

The Villa Goe Bun and Grand Poolside Villas share a common swimming pool between five rooms, making for a pleasant compromise of relative privacy, yet enough space to swim proper laps. For those desiring even more luxury, the
two-bedroom Presidential Suite Villa, intended for the private use of the resort owners, is also available at times to guests.
The resort’s La Malila Spa takes its name from a local nursery rhyme, and the soothing Traditional Asian and Ayurvedic Indian treatments administered in palatial spa rooms. For a hedonistic half-day, the Malila Signature Massage (incorporating foot spa, Shirodara warm oil therapy, and aqua refreshing hydration) is the ultimate all-over indulgence.

From OceanKiss restaurant, diners are treated to a sweeping view overlooking northern Chawaeng Beach, with Koh Matlang within wading distance. For a nigh-class fine-dining alternative, the tables of SkyHug seem to be perched in the trees.
The location is guite convenient; only ten minutes from Samui airport, but a short walk (or crawl) to the main drag of Chaweng Beach.
